New Forest Walking
One of the best ways to experience the new forest is by foot. From rugged moor land to ancient woodlands, the New Forest offers a wide range of flora and fauna to explore. Over hundreds of year the forest has established itself into a haven for nature and wildlife. There is plenty of New Forest Accommodation if you decide to stay in the area for period of time. The forest is made up of an extensive network of footpaths and bridleways that run throughout. You can explore these paths at your pace and walk on any path or track unless it tells you otherwise. Keeping to these paths reduces the risk of disturbing the wildlife and its habitat.
To see some breathtaking beauty we recommend that you try some of the coastal paths that pass through some special conservation areas. There are spectacular views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight and birdwatchers can spot many different birds including warblers, curlews and herons in the areas of marshland.

Bolderwood Deer Walk, Ornamental Drive, west of Lyndhurst (1.5 miles)
Start the walk off at Bolderwood Green car park on Ornamental Drive, West of Lyndhurst. Across the road is a deer observation platform to view the deer from, after looking at this return back to the road and go north (left) for a short while until you get to a grass ride on the left. Follow this for several hundred meters, through holly trees until you reach a gravel road. Walk down this gravel road on your left for 400 meters until you enter the Bolderwood deer grounds. After a while you will enter a conifer plantation, continue along the ride to the left and at the second junction turn off to the left. This path then takes you through Bolderwood Arboretum. Go along the path to the right of the pond to pass Radnor stone, which is up the hill among the trees. From the stone, take a short walk to the top of the hill and it will take you back to your starting point. Don’t forget to stay at a New Forest Hotel if the walk is tiring.

Wiverly Inclosure (3.75 miles)
For this walk you need to start at the Wiverley Plain car park at Wootton. First off, leave the car park by the wooden gate at the start of the Wilverly Wander. Go right at the first junction marked “Scouts” and follow the green and yellow posts. In the middle of the Inclosure the path goes left to some crossroads. Go straight on following the posts as you go, the track will bear to the right then climbs up to a level section. You will then reach a second Scout sign that points straight ahead, take a sharp left then the track gradually bears downhill and turns sharp left by a bench. Follow the fork to the right off the gravel track onto a forest path. Continue over the 'crossroads' and follow the path uphill through a conifer plantation. Keep left at the fork at the brow of the hill and go through a belt of oak and holly before leaving the plantation through a wooden gate. Turn left and follow the track for 500 yards before turning off down a gravel path on your right. Go under the old railway bridge. Ford the Avon Water and continue through a wooden gate into the Brownhill enclosure, where a rough path will take you through to a gravel track. Turn left and follow this route down to Wootton Coppice Enclosure. Leave here via the wooden gate, turn left onto the road and cross Wootton Bridge; from the bridge follow the rough path up on the right hand side towards until it meets with the road just east of the junction. Cross over the road and follow the sandy path running parallel with the road; this will take you back to the car park

If you're not yet pursuing a hobby, your reason may be one or more of the following:

I don't have the time to maintain a hobby. I don't have the money to maintain one. I think people will make fun of my hobby. I don't know what hobby to have. I think maintaining a hobby is a waste of time money and energy. Hobbies are for folks who have nothing to do; I'm not one of them. I used to have a hobby but now I'm too busy to maintain it. I'm too old or young to have a hobby.

While your reasoning may be true "to some extent", it cannot be 100 percent true. These are all just your point of view. We've all heard of the example of one person describing a half glass of water as half full and the other, half empty. Similarly, there is always a way to have and maintain a hobby which will take up as few resources as you can afford. But why have a hobby in the first place?

1. Hobbies are a good past time, a way to get away from the mundane boring life that most of us live through.

2. Hobbies have found to have a therapeutic effect by reducing stress.

3. Hobbies keep the mind active and creative, which is a good exercise for the brain. Mental exercise is as important as physical exercise.

4. Research shows that people who are more successful in life (be it in terms of wealth, health, fame or anything else) are ones who also maintain some hobby or the other.

5. There are umpteen instances where folks start doing something as a hobby and end up doing it as a very successful profession or business. It has even driven them to fame in books of world records.

6. Some folks have maintained a hobby of collecting something of no commercial value for years and years and then sold off their collection for huge fortunes.

Now, would you believe that you should have and maintain a hobby? If yes, I'm happy that my article has benefited someone. But before you start one, please keep the following points in mind:

1. You should love maintaining your hobby. If you think you will get bored in a few days or months, there's no point pursuing it.

2. You should be in a condition to afford it. While some hobbies can be really expensive (like collecting paintings or other artistic work of one or more artists like Van Gogh), you can have a hobby which starts with almost zero investment (like maybe collecting used stamps); so know your budget before you start one.

3. Be prepared to give whatever time is required in maintaining your hobby. While some hobbies can seem almost like a full time job (like gardening on a 2 acre plot), some hobbies take only a few hours every month. Some hobbies only require being alert, for example, collecting out of print books of a particular author whenever you come across old book shops. So consider the time you can afford to devote before starting a hobby.

4. Do you have the physical energy to maintain your favorite hobby? Hobbies like gardening, dancing, etc require you to have sufficient energy, which you may find a little difficult to maintain as you grow older. Additionally, crushing workloads hardly leave any energy with us, these days. Don't let this deter you; ensure that you give some time to it, however less it may seem.

Developing Dubai: How the no. 1 UAE destination is continuing to grow in business and leisure

Each Island ranges in size from around 14,000 to 42,000 square metres but price tags vary widely - from $15 million to $250 million. DuBiotech
DuBiotech is a development that aims to attract biotechnology research and development to the region. The project began in 2005 under the instruction of UAE Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and primarily consists of two high rise buildings which will cover 30 million square feet when completed. The pattern that will be seen on the side of the buildings represents strands of DNA. The development is seen as a major step in establishing a knowledge-based economy in the Emirates.

Burj Dubai
Not only is Dubai soon to include the biggest man-made structure in the world, but it is also home to the tallest. The Burj Dubai has been under-construction since 2004 and now stands at 818 metres including 160 habitable floors. Due to be opened by September 2009, the building will offer a hotel, 700 private apartments, as well as a swimming pool and commercial offices. Aside from the tower, the entire development includes 30,000 homes, another nine hotels and a mall.

HOBBY stemmed from the time when people would ride a wooden horse as an actual pastime. Subsequently, the expression “to ride one’s hobby – horse” became known. It means, “to follow a favorite pastime”. In the modern times it is popularly called HOBBY.

There are various forms of hobby, collecting is one. The value of collecting involves purchasing or getting a hold of a particular item anchored in the fascination and inclination of the collector. These possessions are well categorized and beautifully showcased. The intensity and extensiveness of the collection may differ from one collector to another. Some collectors may focus on a very specific collection like old postal stamps of Manchester, coins from Bhutan, or antique diamond earrings set on platinum. Others may rather hold more common collection like antique furniture, jewelries, sports cards and the like. Sometimes there are people who collect experiences. They gather experiences of special kinds like when they travel. They may capture these experiences through videos or photos.

Games are also form of hobby. A game is a recreational activity carried out for pleasure, it is either partially or totally controlled. The target and the rules of the game create the challenge and structure. Games existed as far back as primeval age. He would watch the television and tune in to the channel that features his interest. He would start researching about the icons of that particular hobby. Icons could be a person, a team, brand of equipment and the like. He would also get himself familiar with the jargons of the hobby and start speaking them.

Level two would be the Mainstream hobbyist. He would be someone who is more familiar with the hobby. Meaning, he knows the “spots”. Spots could be the places where there are good finds and enjoyable facilities. The mainstream may already belong to a league of hobbyists that pursue the same interest as him. He is comfortable with the jargons of his hobby. He has won competitions. In other words, he is more intense in terms of equipments, knowledge and experience.

Finally, we have the Total hobbyist. The total hobbyist has an unyielding conviction in every aspect of the hobby. He has become an authority and an expert. He knows every detail of the hobby by heart. He could come up with a jargon that would indeed hit in his league. He has been the president of a national club or confederation if not one of the board of directors or the chairman of the board. He speaks in a national tournament and is considered an icon. He is someone who’s got nothing more to prove in terms of the depth of experience or possessions, yet still striving not only to improve himself but the industry as well.

However, there is a sheer wedge between profession and hobbies. A sport or an artistic interest may be a hobby to one person but a profession to another. A teacher may love to paint, while a painter may love to cook. People engage in hobbies to stimulate an interest and derive enjoyment from it as well. Hobby focuses more on self – fulfillment rather than financial return. The irony of it is that, it is easier to make a living out of a hobby than out of a profession. This is because hard work and fatigue is unnoticed when people love what they do. Some traders started from hobbying. Collectors who attempt to pull off a certain line of collection and build it up to integrate connected stuff then they trade in the items. Many of these merchants started as collectors themselves and then turned their hobby into a profession. Just like when games are carried out for the wage. Even creative hobbies can be a potential small business especially when people close to the hobbyist appreciate his work and start requesting to pay him just to own a piece of his work and intend it for a gift. As the appeal of an activity increases, the commercial ventures rise as well. There are a lot of hobby shops opening up in large numbers and thriving both on the local market and online.

Hobbyists and professionals may actually work out a fusion to attain a mutual advantage. Hobbyists and professionals can benefit and learn from each other’s ideas and experiences. Fuel Duty Increase for Leisure Craft

At last, the UK Government's position on the future of Red Diesel is revealed and it's not looking good for pleasure boaters.

But first...

What is Red Diesel?

Up until now, UK leisure boaters have been able to fuel their boats with red diesel which is subject to lower VAT. Coloured with red dye to distinguish it from the more expensive variety, red diesel is typically available for around 40p per litre, less than half the national average for diesel on the forecourt.

The issue.

In recent years, permission to use red diesel became subject not only to national approval, but also the EU's. The reason is down to EU policies that bring into line taxes on fuels and energy, and the fact that consent to use red diesel depends on exemption (derogation) from these EU rules.

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) fought to extend the derogation that allowed UK leisure boaters to use lower duty red diesel. After much lobbying, the British government agreed in October 2006 to support their case. However, EU officials failed to accept the government's arguments and have decided that the derogation should end with effect from the end of December 2006. There is now a grace period in force for the phasing out of red diesel in the UK. It will be legally usable in leisure craft until November 2008.

Honesty is the best policy.

Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has decided that pleasure craft users can carry on using red diesel as long as they make a declaration to the supplier and pay the full rate of tax for heavy oil.

The Registered Dealer in Controlled Oils (RDCO) will then be responsible for declaring the duty collected to HMRC. Confusing the situation slightly, fuel purchased for domestic use (ie, not for propulsion of the craft) can continue to be supplied at the rebated rate.

'Availability and Safety'.

The HMRC's Dave Fitzgerald confirmed the core policy had been fixed but that HMRC would be working closely with the RYA, the BMF and other stakeholders to develop the detail of the declaration process and apportionment of fuel for domestic use.

Following that consultation process, HMRC will produce comprehensive guidance.

'Our main concerns were availability and safety,' said Neil Northmore, the RYA's government affairs adviser.

'We were aware that there was a danger that some retailers in more remote areas would simply not bother selling to pleasure boats on the premise that it would be more trouble than it was worth to distinguish between private and commercial craft, and then process the paperwork.'

Increase in duty.

Howard Pridding, executive director of the BMF said:

'We are pleased with how HMRC has managed the consultation process and the position that they have finally adopted. When buying fuel, people will be required to sign a declaration that states whether their boat is for private or commercial use.'

It will then be up to HMRC whether they wish to investigate whether the purchase was correct or not, he explained.

The Future of Red Diesel.

On 28 February 2008, HM Revenue & Customs revealed that from 1 November this year, boaters will be paying a duty rate of 56.94 pence per litre, instead of the current rate of 9.69 pence per litre.

Boaters will be forced to keep records of all diesel purchases, as it will become a criminal offence to have diesel on board for propulsion that you cannot prove was bought at the higher rate of diesel.

Diesel bought for use as heating fuel will still be available at a rebated rate. So to add further complication, there will be a system in place where you can declare that a proportion of the diesel you are taking on is for 'domestic purposes'!

Only time will tell how this news will hit the market, but it's not hard to imagine it having some impact.
