Everything You Wanted To Know About Event Photography Software

The beauty of photography is the opportunity it provides to those who take photographs. There is a wide array of possibilities for the photographer who is looking to make money taking pictures. Some may opt to take pictures of the beautiful sunset or mountains, while others like to hire themselves out to people to take photographs for them. Event photography is a very popular type of employment within the photography industry. Event photography software serves to make this job a bit easier. Not sure what event photography is and why you might consider it? Read on to find out all the information on it.

What is Event Photography?

Have you ever been to a wedding? That's a silly question because most likely, you've been to a lot of those. What about a sporting event or a concert? Chances are, if you've gone to any of these, you've noticed photographers there taking pictures of the event. This is, in a gist, what event photography is. It is photography taken at events such as a wedding, sports event, concert, awards show etc. Event photography software will help you with this job.

Do Event Photographers Make Good Money?

If you're looking for a type of photography that is pretty much sure to earn you good money, event photography is it. While for most photographers it isn't all about making money, they can't deny that event photography is very lucrative. Some event photographers have reported making as much as thousands of dollars for taking pictures at one event. That's certainly a lot of money.

It's worth noting that not all event photographers make this type of money, although most do provided they're very professional. Event photography software helps them to take and manage professional event photos.

What Equipment Do I Need?

People will pay to have quality event photos taken, so it's important for you, as an event photographer, to have quality equipment. This means making a bit of an investment. You'll need to spend money to get money you need to purchase some of the best photography equipment available, which includes the camera and event photography software.

Let's start with the obvious: the camera. You'll want to get a digital camera, but stay away from the very small cameras - those are for amateurs. There are some great digital cameras on the market which have the traditional camera look, but are digital. These have the big lens, great zoom features and excellent megapixel quality. Go for a digital that has at least 8 megapixels. This may cost you from $400 on up.

Grab a good event photography software program, too. A good event photography software program will allow you to manage your photos in the easiest way possible. If you're not sure which event photography software program to buy, read some reviews online or ask around.

Next, you'll want to invest in a big memory card. Think at least 2GB, because the photographs with the highest quality tend to take up the most space. Nothing is worse than being at a gig and running out of space, so buy a few 2GB cards and you'll be set there.

Good batteries are also required. Make sure they are long lasting and hold a good charge (if they're rechargeable). Get an extra set of batteries, too.

Finally, you'll want to invest in a good stand and case. The stand will allow you to take great still shots, while the case will protect your investments. Definitely don't skimp here.

Why Do Event Photography?

Still not sold on why event photography could be a great choice for you? That's alright, as many people are skeptical of it. We'll give you a couple reasons here.

-Flexibility. One of the great things about event photography is that it providers photographers with a great deal of flexibility. You are able to choose how many events you do and how many hours you work. Usually, you won't have to work weekdays, or if you do, it may only be for a few hours. This is good for parents who want to work and still have time with their kids. Using event photography software can help to make things even more flexible and easy.
-Great Pay. Have you ever wanted to make hundreds or thousands of dollars for just a few hours work? You can do exactly this as an event photographer. Event photography pays very well, so it's very easy to make a lot of money doing it.

Why Event Photography Software?

There are a lot of reasons why you should use event photography software, but we won't get into all those now. Instead, we'll just give you the biggest reason, which is that it makes your job a lot easier. Event photography software will automate the process of managing and naming photos, and will even help you when it comes time to edit the photos. That is why you should consider buying event photography software.

Thinking Outside The Box With Artistic Wedding Photography

Your wedding day is one of the most special, eagerly awaited days in your life; and often we spend a great deal of time and money to ensure that it is perfect in every way. Everything from the flowers to the food is given careful consideration in an effort to plan a cohesive and exciting event that is reflective of your personality. And nothing is more scrutinized than the photography - that which will be a lasting memory of your special day. Today's sophisticated brides and grooms are looking to artistic wedding photography more and more - as a way to infuse their wedding with non-traditional style.

Artistic wedding photography is photography that is approached with more than just "stand and pose pictures" in mind. Gone is the day of formal - and often stiff - wedding photography. Today's photographers have ushered in a growing trend wherein they bring creative expression to the age-old craft of wedding photography.

Some methods included in artistic wedding photography may include the use of non-traditional angles that you may have never associated with wedding photographs - including the use of light, color, shadow, and scale. A creative photographer can create dramatic works of art out of a single photograph and present you with a photographic result you can frame and hang in any room.

An increasingly popular style of artistic wedding photography is that of candid - or journalistic type - photography. Using this method, the photographer takes photographs of the couple and their guests when they are unaware of the picture being taken. Photographers who are adept at this have an uncanny ability to stay unnoticed and still get beautiful, engaging shots.

Artistic wedding photography may also include the use of the computer to add design elements to the photography in order to make them unique. The choices are really endless when it comes to creating photographic works of art. Working with a photographer who can best express the style that is unique to you and your wedding means finding one that works at a higher creative level than traditional wedding photographers. Luckily, most photographers host their own website where visitors can browse through their work and get a sense of their style.

Having a wedding does not mean that you are stuck with traditional vendors and formality reminiscent of your mother's wedding. Infuse your wedding with modern sophistication by choosing artistic wedding photography. The memories will last you a lifetime.

Working With Event Photographers: 8 Tips For Event Planners

Your next business event is coming up and everything seems to be coming together nicely. You've got the catering, the sound system and the guest speaker all lined up. What about your photographer?

Corporate events should always be recorded in photographs. Its a time when you bring members of your staff together, often away from the usual workplace. It might be a celebration luncheon, a pep-talk, a training session, a welcome to new members of the leadership team -- whatever. You will find numerous uses for photos from such events, especially if it is successful.

I've shot countless corporate and small business events over the years, and I've experienced great and not-so-great event planners. If you're charged with planning your company's next affair, consider these points when working with a photographer.

1: Don't plan on briefing the photographer just before the event

Your photographer needs plenty of information to achieve the best results. Often, an event planner will contract me to shoot a corporate event or meeting and suggest we meet "a few minutes before hand to go over everything." It sounds good in theory, as it saves time for both the planner and the photographer to eliminate an advance meeting. In practice, I've found that no matter how well planned, the hours leading up to the start of the event are extremely hectic. The planner always envisions plenty of time to go over things before the occasion starts. Then the caterer gets lost. Or the sound system goes on the frizz. The harried planner waves me off saying something like -- "Sorry, cant meet now. just shoot whatever you think looks interesting..."

Trust me. always schedule an advance meeting before hand to go over specifics. Both you and the photographer will be glad you did.

2: Explain to the photographer what kind of photos you need

How do you intend to use photos from this occasion? Print? The web? How soon do you need them returned? Do you need digital (delivered on CD or DVD) or prints? Will the photographer provide you with an online gallery you can download from? These factors will impact the way the photographer shoots the event and what equipment he uses. Get all of this laid out in writing before the event. Don't skimp on this step.

3: Don't surprise your photographer

Event planners love to surprise their guests. Nothing wrong with that, but the cameraman should not be kept in the dark. Recently I was shooting a corporate event where the planner arranged to have a small, concealed cannon spew forth hundreds of streamers into the air. Acting quickly, I was able to catch some of the streamers in flight. Had I known what was going to happen before hand, I could have placed myself in position to capture a much stronger image.

4: Provide a safe place to stash camera gear

Expensive camera gear is a prime target for thieves. You want your photographer to be concentrating on getting great images, not worrying about someone walking off with his gear. If possible, have a safe, secure place where extra camera gear can be stored.

5: Arrange parking and unloading areas

Depending on the event, your cameraman might bring along a load of equipment. He or she will need to get all that gear to the event venue. If possible, provide the photo crew with close, accessible parking. If that can't be managed, then make sure they can unload at a convenient spot and then move their vehicle elsewhere.

6: Always brief security before hand

In the post-9/11 world, security is often very tight at major corporate events. This is as it should be, but you don't want your event photographer to be caught up in a security snafu. Provide some sort of written credentials and make sure security knows you have hired a photographer for the occasion. If you fail to do this, security might detain or otherwise prevent the photographer from doing his job. You will most likely be emersed in other aspects of the event and won't be available to straighten everything out until afterwards. So much for photos from the event!

7: Find out if the photographer will be bringing an assistant

Assistants can be a great help to a photographer -- running errands, holding up lights, taking notes, running interference or shooting additional images. If your photographer is bringing an assistant you will want to know before hand, so you can provide credentials, brief security and make whatever other arrangements necessary.

8: Inform the photographer about the dress code

There was a time when corporate or business events had a simple dress code: suit and tie for men, business suits for women. The only deviation from this would be a true black tie affair. Today, corporate events are all over the map. Some may still be formal or at least dressy. On the other hand, causal dress has invaded the workplace at many companies, especially for out of the office meetings and the like. You want your photographer's clothing to match what everyone else is wearing. Some of the best event photos are candids, shot when the subject was unaware they were "on camera." If your photographer is dressed to blend in with everyone else, they will have a much better chance of catching good candids. If their attire sets them apart, they will be easier to spot...and avoid.

Every event is different, and there may be other aspects you and your photographer need to address. By taking care of the above issues, however, you will have a much better chance of obtaining excellent photographs from the event.

Classic Wedding Photography

To get classic wedding pictures, one should get the best wedding photographer they can afford. In wedding photography one can choose to have traditional pictures taken or have their photos taken in a reportage style. Another person may opt to mix the two styles. What matters is that the quality of the pictures. If the person resides in Toronto, they can choose to have a Toronto wedding. Once a person selects the venue, the next big decision concerns the wedding photography. To get great pictures of the memorable day, it is advisable to shop around for the best Toronto photographer. This is done by getting a phone book and comparing prices of the different photographers who deal with wedding photography. Some may be cheap while others will charge exorbitant prices for their wedding photography. The best choice would be to settle for one whose prices are affordable.

Another factor to consider in the wedding photography is the length of time it will take to get the pictures developed or printed. The wedding photographer should give one a date when they should expect their photos. Just like Toronto weddings, a good wedding photographer will impart lasting impressions on anyone who looks at the pictures. This will help one know how a particular studio handles its wedding photography. Talking to the photographer also helps someone to know the language used in photography circles. It is also helpful since one can ask as many questions as possible about wedding photography.

Friends and relatives can also advise on the best wedding photography options. They can recommend photographers who take good wedding pictures. They also give advice on the various wedding poses and prepare one for what to expect on the wedding day from the wedding photography. Wedding photography is an art that requires skill and experience. It would be advisable to get a Toronto photographer who has worked for at least two years, as they know how to capture certain moments to get classic wedding photographs. They can also advise on the best poses one can use and make use of the lighting when doing the wedding photography.

Reading the wedding photography contract before signing is important. One gets to know if all costs are inclusive or if there are going to be additional costs. Contracts spell out what the photographer will do for specified amounts of money. Selecting a studio to handle wedding photography is not easy. The process should be started early enough because a wedding day is one of those days when memorable moments are made. Wedding photos should capture those joyous moments.

Wedding photography might be expensive but when one considers the story the pictures will tell, they will choose the best wedding photographer who will bring the best out of that important day. It is an investment of the future and one should not forget a picture is worth a thousand words. Choosing the best studio for the wedding photography will ensure than the couple does not regret when looking at the wedding photos later.

Professional Wedding Photographers

When it comes time to arrange a wedding, a couple should give serious consideration to the services of one of many professional wedding photographers. Wedding memories are meant to last a lifetime and it is a single day to be cherished and appreciated by the blessed couple for many years to come. The couple will want perfect wedding pictures that they can review and enjoy, and the one sure fire way to get perfect wedding photographs is by hiring one of several professional wedding photographers.

Seeking out professional wedding photographers is indeed a task. A lot of effort should be put into the act of choosing the professional wedding photographer that a couple will work with. Professional wedding photographers have different ranges of experience, different ways of taking photographs, and every photographer has a unique personality. The couple seeking the skills of professional wedding photographers will need to assess the photographer's communication skills, review the photographer's portfolio, and determine if the photographer is capable of meeting the couple's demand.

Some wedding photographers provide their information on websites. Along with contact information, the photographers may provide client testimonials, information about wedding photo packages too. If the photographer supplies wedding photo samples or access to their professional wedding photo portfolio online, it's advised that the couple view the portfolio together to see if they both appreciate the images, the lighting, the poses, the colouring, and the highlighted moments within the photos offered for viewing. If both the future bride and groom are not in agreement, it may be necessary to review the portfolios of other professional wedding photographers in order to find a good photographer for the job.

Looking at and reviewing the photographer's portfolio is a must for every couple. A couple can determine what kind of poses that they like, and can then clearly define what they want when they have their wedding photographs taken. Professional images of the couple together, images of the bride alone, images of the groom alone, photos of the bridal party, and photos of the marriage rite and reception all must be taken with the greatest of care. The moment's that occur in a wedding cannot be relived or repeated, so the photographs must be captured perfectly the first time. This is why it is so incredibly important that a couple hire professional wedding photographers with a vast amount of experience.

The skills of the professional wedding photographers define how the photos will turn out. True professional wedding photographers know what poses make for gorgeous wedding photos. When a photographer takes photos at the right moment, they are capturing that moment and encapsulating it in a photograph; the photographer is essentially freezing time in a sense, so that the memory can be brought back to life in full living colour, days or even years later. The moment the bride walks down the aisle, the moment the bride and groom exchange vows, the minute the wedding rings are exchanged, when the groom kisses the bride: every minute is special and should be correctly captured in photos that contain the right angle and the appropriate lighting. Photographic composition is just as important as capturing the highlights of a wedding. Therefore, couples should look into the professional background of the photographer they are considering, and should request client referrals to speak with others that have worked with the photographer in the past. Couples might also want to review customer testimonials as well.

The wedding photographer selected by a couple should be professional, amiable, sociable, and able to communicate concisely and with great ease. A couple should always remember that the selected wedding photographer will not merely be taking photos of the wedding, but he or she will be interacting closely with guests. The photographer must be able to elicit the right atmosphere so that all photos are absolutely gorgeous when they are finally printed. Good communication skills come in handy when it comes to talking about cost factors too; a photographer should clearly and concisely indicate what kinds of wedding photographer packages are offered and how much such packages cost. Questions that the couple have about photographs should be readily addressed.

Couples can wisely decide on a wedding photographer by spending a good deal of time questioning different photographers about pricing, techniques, packages, guarantees, and special pricing. Getting price quotes from several photographers and a list of offerings makes the selection of a wedding photographer a simpler endeavour overall. The couple needs to bear in mind however that they should not draw to close to compromising the quality of wedding photos for a convenient costing wedding photos package. The wedding and all of the highlights therein cannot be relived or repeated. This is why it is critical that the right photographer is chosen for the job the very first time a photographer is hired to take wedding photos.

Getting Your Photography Website Noticed

There are thousands of great photography websites that rarely get any visitors - the following article will help you gain exposure for your photography website.

Having the ability to take excellent images is a great honour, but if no one ever sees them your talent becomes wasted. Your online portfolio or website will certainly be the cheapest way of promoting your photography; key to this is getting your photography website to the top of the search engine.

Google is by far the most important search engine, and a good ranking is vital if you wish that your photography will be successful. It's not that hard to achieve this but there are some simple rules and guidelines to follow.

The priority items that most search engines look for are quality content on your website, links from other sites that point to your site and the time your site is online. If you have a new website you will have to wait a certain length of time before it will reach the first page in Google.

The content of your site should be unique. It should be rich in keywords that explain about your site and should have no fewer than three hundred words. If your photography site is a portrait site, make sure that the content in your site has a two to three percent keyword ratio for portrait photography. Also make sure that your keywords are included in the page title and description.

Getting links to your site is the most important factor. Search engines will look at links pointing to your site as a vote in favour of your website. The more links you have, the more votes you receive. The easiest and fastest way of achieving this is to submit your photography site to hundreds of directories. Most directories will add your site for free but you may need to provide a return link back to the site.

Photography directories will be the most important directories to submit to. There are many great photography directories that will offer a free submission. Make sure that the keywords from your site are included in the title and that you write a good description. If the description seems interesting you will have a very good chance of getting visitors from photography directories.

Also, try to get links to other photography sites that are not in direct competition against you.

Never try to fool any search engine; you may end up being banned from a search engine. Avoid link farms at all costs - link farms will harm your site. Some companies will offer to complete submissions for you at a cost per directory. You should avoid this also.

Submitting your site to photography directories will take time, but will be worth the effort. You should allow one or two hours every week for this. It is the most important factor in getting visitors to your photography site and getting a high ranking on the main search engines.
