Thinking Outside The Box With Artistic Wedding Photography

Your wedding day is one of the most special, eagerly awaited days in your life; and often we spend a great deal of time and money to ensure that it is perfect in every way. Everything from the flowers to the food is given careful consideration in an effort to plan a cohesive and exciting event that is reflective of your personality. And nothing is more scrutinized than the photography - that which will be a lasting memory of your special day. Today's sophisticated brides and grooms are looking to artistic wedding photography more and more - as a way to infuse their wedding with non-traditional style.

Artistic wedding photography is photography that is approached with more than just "stand and pose pictures" in mind. Gone is the day of formal - and often stiff - wedding photography. Today's photographers have ushered in a growing trend wherein they bring creative expression to the age-old craft of wedding photography.

Some methods included in artistic wedding photography may include the use of non-traditional angles that you may have never associated with wedding photographs - including the use of light, color, shadow, and scale. A creative photographer can create dramatic works of art out of a single photograph and present you with a photographic result you can frame and hang in any room.

An increasingly popular style of artistic wedding photography is that of candid - or journalistic type - photography. Using this method, the photographer takes photographs of the couple and their guests when they are unaware of the picture being taken. Photographers who are adept at this have an uncanny ability to stay unnoticed and still get beautiful, engaging shots.

Artistic wedding photography may also include the use of the computer to add design elements to the photography in order to make them unique. The choices are really endless when it comes to creating photographic works of art. Working with a photographer who can best express the style that is unique to you and your wedding means finding one that works at a higher creative level than traditional wedding photographers. Luckily, most photographers host their own website where visitors can browse through their work and get a sense of their style.

Having a wedding does not mean that you are stuck with traditional vendors and formality reminiscent of your mother's wedding. Infuse your wedding with modern sophistication by choosing artistic wedding photography. The memories will last you a lifetime.

Choosing the Right Wedding Photographer Can be Easy, if You Choose the Right Wedding Photo Retouching Company

Your big day is approaching. You’ve spent months and thousands of dollars on planning the perfect wedding day. You’ve got the best spot in town for the ceremony, the best caterer and even the best cake designer in the area. There’s one crucial thing that a lot of people leave until the last minute that can make or break the wedding. Yes, it’s the wedding photographer.

How important is the photographer to your wedding? You might think you can get the cheapest photographer with a decent photographer out there, but be warned. In 30 years, you will not be able to wear your dress or your tuxedo. No one will remember the food or what color the chair covers were. The only thing you will have to really pass on from your wedding are the photos taken by your photographer. That’s why it’s important to get the best wedding photographer you can afford for your wedding photos.

However, there is a way you can save a considerable amount on your wedding photography and still have great photos. How? Simply choose a photo retouching company that can edit all of your photos as soon as you get them. You see, wedding photographers usually provide you with a disc of all your photos in digital form. If they don’t, then just ask them, as most will if you build it into your agreement up front.

After you’ve received your photos, just go to a wedding photo retouching company, like us, FixUpPix.com. No doubt, even the best photographers take photos that can use some help. We see those photos everyday at FixUpPix.com. You may have a photo that is perfect except for one person standing in the background. Or the best photo of the bride may capture the groom squinting his eyes. This photo would be ruined if it weren’t for wedding photo retouching. A photo retoucher can fix all of these issues, as well as generally enhance the color and beauty of each of your photos. Most will even give you a package price if you have multiple photos. You will find that the price of fixing your wedding photos is often far cheaper than hiring the best wedding photographer, and you know with retouching you will get the results you want.

Classic Wedding Photography

To get classic wedding pictures, one should get the best wedding photographer they can afford. In wedding photography one can choose to have traditional pictures taken or have their photos taken in a reportage style. Another person may opt to mix the two styles. What matters is that the quality of the pictures. If the person resides in Toronto, they can choose to have a Toronto wedding. Once a person selects the venue, the next big decision concerns the wedding photography. To get great pictures of the memorable day, it is advisable to shop around for the best Toronto photographer. This is done by getting a phone book and comparing prices of the different photographers who deal with wedding photography. Some may be cheap while others will charge exorbitant prices for their wedding photography. The best choice would be to settle for one whose prices are affordable.

Another factor to consider in the wedding photography is the length of time it will take to get the pictures developed or printed. The wedding photographer should give one a date when they should expect their photos. Just like Toronto weddings, a good wedding photographer will impart lasting impressions on anyone who looks at the pictures. This will help one know how a particular studio handles its wedding photography. Talking to the photographer also helps someone to know the language used in photography circles. It is also helpful since one can ask as many questions as possible about wedding photography.

Friends and relatives can also advise on the best wedding photography options. They can recommend photographers who take good wedding pictures. They also give advice on the various wedding poses and prepare one for what to expect on the wedding day from the wedding photography. Wedding photography is an art that requires skill and experience. It would be advisable to get a Toronto photographer who has worked for at least two years, as they know how to capture certain moments to get classic wedding photographs. They can also advise on the best poses one can use and make use of the lighting when doing the wedding photography.

Reading the wedding photography contract before signing is important. One gets to know if all costs are inclusive or if there are going to be additional costs. Contracts spell out what the photographer will do for specified amounts of money. Selecting a studio to handle wedding photography is not easy. The process should be started early enough because a wedding day is one of those days when memorable moments are made. Wedding photos should capture those joyous moments.

Wedding photography might be expensive but when one considers the story the pictures will tell, they will choose the best wedding photographer who will bring the best out of that important day. It is an investment of the future and one should not forget a picture is worth a thousand words. Choosing the best studio for the wedding photography will ensure than the couple does not regret when looking at the wedding photos later.

6 Simple Steps How Not To Trash Your Treasured Photos

It can happen to even the best of us. I have seen professional photographers lament over the loss of photos they took at an event. In the old days of film cameras, it was quite difficult to lose an image. As long as the settings were correct, the film recorded the subject and was then processed and printed. The camera had just a few settings, and if the photographer took reasonable care, you were good, But in this day of digital cameras, everything is controlled by a computer, one in the camera, one in the lens, and one in the flash. The computers will do a pretty good job of preventing errors, but they cannot eliminate them. At least, if the photographer looks at the LCD on the back of the camera, you can be pretty sure that things are working ok.

1. Make sure that all your batteries are fully charged. This is critical, not just to make sure your camera can take photos on the day, but to also protect the photos you take and be sure the memory card does not become corrupt.

2. Make sure that you have enough memory cards to hold all of the photos you will be taking on the day. Have a number of cards and swap between them so you do not lose a whole days event on the one card.

3. Before you start the days event, make sure that you format the memory cards and get them prepared for the days event. Always format in the camera you will be using.

This is the continuation from part 1 of this article.

4. Never use a memory card in more than one kind of camera without formatting the card. You can not only damage a memory card but you may lose the images you have already taken by using the card in a camera other than a camera of the same make and model as the one you used to format the card. Most cameras will write the file a little differently, and so if you use the card in a different camera, you again run the risk of losing images. If you intend to use a card in a different camera, that make sure that you copy all the files onto your computer, and then format the card in the other camera before use.

5. Part of the reason for item 1 above (fully charged batteries), is not just to make sure you have enough power to take photos during the days event, but also to ensure that the camera will not power off during writing a file to the memory card. If the camera battery fails while writing a file, you will not only lose that image, but the rest of the images on the card may be lost forever. A memory card is just like a computer hard drive. It has a directory and file structure so that the camera and your computer know where the files are, how many files are on the card, and how big the files are. If the camera fails during writing a file to the card, it can corrupt the card, just like a hard drive crash. Also, never take a card out of the camera while the file is still being written to the card. Always make sure that if you need to remove the card after taking a photo, wait a few seconds to make sure the file has been written to the card to avoid problems.

6. When it comes time to move your photos onto your computer’s hard drive, I suggest that you use a memory card reader and not the camera. Again, it is always possible that the camera’s battery could fail during the process to copy the photos over to your hard drive. This will not usually be a problem, but it could cause the card to become corrupt and therefore potentially lose your images. It is generally accepted i the industry that a memory card reader is faster than your camera when transferring files. Card readers are very inexpensive, and you have a choice of using a multi format reader or one designed just for the card type your camera uses. The price of memory card readers are so cheap, you can carry one with you and use it to show clients during the shoot. If you have a computer available, it is the most pleasing way to see the photos you have taken.

So, if you would really like to lose all those treasured photos, if you really want to have the hassle of explaining to your client, family or friends that you have lost all of the images you took, then just ignore these tips. You will lose some money, some friends and have to endure the wrath of some potentially very angry people. Good word of mouth advertising cannot be bought. So, if you do have a problem during the event, you will miss out on a lot of income that you could've made over the years. There are wedding photographers who consistently make well into the 6 figure income. And in the US alone, the wedding photography market is in excess of five billion dollars a year. Not a bad market to be in.

By following these simple steps, you will know that you have taken every step to ensure that your images will be saved properly. OK, well, maybe we do not need to be that melodramatic, but I am sure you get the picture (pun intended). Your clients will be happy, you will be happy, and your wallet will be happy. Plus, you get the benefit and the pride of knowing that you did a good job and that a small part of you will live on and be enjoyed by generations of people looking at your photos. Like a fine art painter, your photos will be seen and enjoyed by generations of people. It really doesn't get better than this. Enjoy.

Wedding Photography: Knowing Your Readiness To Get Into This Business

Many couples planning for marriage have invested in photos for their wedding. Despite the additional expense for a professional photographer, they still make sure that they have the best photos for their wedding. It is probably because the have seen the pictures of people taken from other wedding occasions. Professional photography is very appealing to the eye. Anyone who will look at it years from now will surely be able to see the details of how the wedding went. Every event with professional photos taken becomes remarkable.

So how do you know when you are ready for the job? Readiness is such a big question. You may have the talent to take the most beautiful shot but it takes a certain kind of person to take photos for wedding celebration. This is no trial and error and everything moves in fast paced. Sometimes you will never know what is expected. Not all that you see is still life to which the position never changes. People are all around you and you have to adjust to the stress and the chaotic environment that can possibly be around during the celebration. Therefore, getting in to the business of wedding photography is not easy. You have to know one first how ready you are to take the responsibility.

Readiness to Deal with People

You will be soon doing a job that requires interaction with people. In addition, these people sometimes know what they want in a photo while others are clueless. Your job does not only lie in getting the photos on the actual day but you need to do some talking in order for them to understand the process. You need to be approachable so that people can feel comfortable venting out what they want and see the possibilities of incorporating them into your style.

Commitment

One main ingredient in getting into a business is commitment. Not many people have this. Doing the job is one thing but being able to go an extra mile is another. If you are ready to wake up early to cover a wedding photo shoot without complaining, then you must be almost ready. It takes one committed person to complete the job and make outstanding results. It also takes one committed person to exert effort in finding the best shots and edit them rightfully to distinguish the personality of the couple.

Flexibility and Patience

You also have to adjust when the situation calls for it. In most cases there will be changes to the plan. My advice... just roll with it. Use your creativity to make the most of slight deviations from your original plan. Unexpected changes is just part of the job with wedding photography. Do not get frustrated when you cannot have things your way. It isn’t about you anyways. Sometimes, these little changes can actually be used to get the best photos you may never have expected. However, it takes patience to make things work. People might get in your way and things may go wrong but you have to work your way around it. Remember, your goal is to give the couples what they need not to fulfill your own personal needs.

Summary

You can have the best talent in the world at taking photos. However, if you want to make a business out of it, make sure you are ready. Check out if you have all these qualities then you can go investing your cash in doing something you love the most: taking photos.

Getting Your Photography Website Noticed

There are thousands of great photography websites that rarely get any visitors - the following article will help you gain exposure for your photography website.

Having the ability to take excellent images is a great honour, but if no one ever sees them your talent becomes wasted. Your online portfolio or website will certainly be the cheapest way of promoting your photography; key to this is getting your photography website to the top of the search engine.

Google is by far the most important search engine, and a good ranking is vital if you wish that your photography will be successful. It's not that hard to achieve this but there are some simple rules and guidelines to follow.

The priority items that most search engines look for are quality content on your website, links from other sites that point to your site and the time your site is online. If you have a new website you will have to wait a certain length of time before it will reach the first page in Google.

The content of your site should be unique. It should be rich in keywords that explain about your site and should have no fewer than three hundred words. If your photography site is a portrait site, make sure that the content in your site has a two to three percent keyword ratio for portrait photography. Also make sure that your keywords are included in the page title and description.

Getting links to your site is the most important factor. Search engines will look at links pointing to your site as a vote in favour of your website. The more links you have, the more votes you receive. The easiest and fastest way of achieving this is to submit your photography site to hundreds of directories. Most directories will add your site for free but you may need to provide a return link back to the site.

Photography directories will be the most important directories to submit to. There are many great photography directories that will offer a free submission. Make sure that the keywords from your site are included in the title and that you write a good description. If the description seems interesting you will have a very good chance of getting visitors from photography directories.

Also, try to get links to other photography sites that are not in direct competition against you.

Never try to fool any search engine; you may end up being banned from a search engine. Avoid link farms at all costs - link farms will harm your site. Some companies will offer to complete submissions for you at a cost per directory. You should avoid this also.

Submitting your site to photography directories will take time, but will be worth the effort. You should allow one or two hours every week for this. It is the most important factor in getting visitors to your photography site and getting a high ranking on the main search engines.

Wedding Photography: How to Become a Successful Wedding Photographer

Once in while I receive e-mails or phone calls from aspiring or beginner wedding photographers asking me for advise on how to become successful in the wedding field. My first question is always what their motivation is to become a wedding photographer. Some will reply that they heard from somebody that it is easy money, or that they got a cool camera that takes great photos or that they would like to make some money on the side etc.
While it is true that wedding photography can be a very profitable business achieving success in the wedding industry is not just a matter of getting a camera and start shooting. Wedding photography involves artistic talent, human sense, complete mastery of photographic techniques, business knowledge, and a strong desire to learn and deliver the best to the wedding couple.

Here I have summarized some points that I believe will guide beginner wedding photographers:

1. Learn photography before anything else. A wedding photographer is expected to be a master of the craft. You will be in charge of capturing people's most precious life moments. The wedding day is not the place to learn photography.

2. Just because you got a brand new camera it does not automatically make you an effective and reliable photographer. Photography goes beyond cool toys and gadgets. Learn composition and develop a unique artistic vision. Some of the great photographs of all time were taken with manual cameras.

3. Master the digital workflow, including color management, digital image processing, file management and image correction and enhancement.

4. Learn to love photography more than anything else. Don't come to the wedding photography field with just dreams of making money. It is true that there are many successful wedding photographers that make a lot of money. However according to the Professional Photographers of America the average photographer in America makes about $24,000 a year.

5. Focus on delivering quality more than quantity. Seek with all your heart to capture unique photographs.

6. Develop a style that is recognizable and unique. Don't try to be like somebody else. Clients look for unique photographers, with a unique vision.

7. Give wedding photography all your heart and effort. Long when you are gone your photographs will last forever. It is a great way to be remembered.

8. Open your heart and your mind and great photos will happen. Concentrate on the human aspect of weddings, the details, and emotions and be ready to capture them. Let the camera become an extension of you.

9. Share your technical knowledge and make connections with other wedding photographers.

10. Participate in wedding photography image competitions. It will give you the opportunity to have your work evaluated by peers and the motivation to improve your work quality.

11. Learn something new everyday. Take advantage of professional photography organizations such as Professional Photographers of America (PPA), WPPI, etc. Attend their seminars, workshops. Participate in Internet wedding photography forums and learn and share tips, tools and techniques.

12. Don't neglect the business aspect of wedding photography. Learn to manage your business effectively. Take business courses and seminars.

Wedding Photography Hot Spots - Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach is a playground for wedding photography. With it's many high end wedding venues and gorgeous coastal scenery, this piece of Southern California provides many great sites for beautiful wedding and engagement photography. No wonder it is so popular amongst Orange County wedding photographers.

For engagement photography, there is plenty of shoreline with flavor and backdrops to provide great photos within Laguna. Heisler Park is one my favorites owning a neat little gazebo and a spectacular view.

A couple of my preferred locations for actual wedding photography are Tivoli Too!, and Occasions. Tivoli Too is a beautiful place to photograph weddings. Having your wedding photographs shot here will provide an artistic European backdrop to every photo with the European courtyard, the cascading waterfall surrounded by flowers and dramatic hillside. Envision verandas with ceiling fans that overlook a European style courtyard, and twinkling lights at night. Very nice, very classy. Moving on to Occasions, In the opinion of this Laguna Beach wedding photographer, this venue is unbelievable! Your wedding photography will never be better with the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. The beach front wedding photographs will simply come alive with the crashing of each wave and the romance of the setting sun. Simply beautiful! Your wedding photography will be worth its weight in gold at Occasions. These locations are great to combine both the ceremony and reception.

Having your wedding photography or engagement photography in Laguna Beach is an excellent idea. With classy venues and beautiful coastal scenery your wedding and/or engagement photos are sure to be quite impressive.
